HOW OUR ONLINE SERVICE WORKS
You enter your basic information in your online account. That information is kept in a database and used to calculate taxes and to determine what forms, returns, and payments are required.
If you have not yet obtained an employer ID number (either Federal or State or both) the program will prepare your registration forms for you, as well as the report of workers hired required by each state.
The program will also prepare Form I-9 for each worker. If you choose to withhold income taxes, it will also prepare form W-4 for each worker.
Each time you pay your household worker, you use your account to enter their gross wages. We calculate, and record in the database, their taxes and net pay, and produce a pay stub which you can print to your printer.
Your filing requirements depend partly upon the amounts you are paying. We keep track of these amounts, and when you are required to fill a form, file a return, or make a payment, that requirement is added to your online schedule and you are e-mailed a notification of the requirement.
When you are required to file or pay, you go online and the calculated return will be available for you there. Most forms can be printed signature-ready directly to your own printer from your online account.
There are some exceptions. Some forms have special inks and other characteristics that make them impossible to print to your printer. The tax authorities require that those forms be filed on pre-printed paper forms, or filed electronically. In those cases, the information may need to be copied to your paper form. Copy A of form W-2 may be such a form. If so, HET Online will print them on the required paper and mail them to you.
Finally, you update your online account to reflect the forms, returns, and payments you have made, and any changes to your account, so the database has all the information required to create your returns online.

Privacy: Your contact information will never, ever be sold to mailing lists or others outside HET. Your database information is password-protected. We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about you to anyone except as permitted by law. We restrict access to your personal and account information to those employees who need to know that information to provide you products or services. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with the federal standards to guard your non-public personal information.
Information Security: When you log in to your account you immediately go to Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) security. You remain within that SSL security for your entire session, until you log out or leave the account pages. Under SSL security, all information you submit passes between your browser and our server in 128-bit encrypted form.
Payment Security: Our credit card charges are handled by authorize.net, a trusted third-party charge processor. Your credit card information, transmitted in encrypted form, is received and processed only by them on their specialized high-security facilities.

NOTES
For all service choices you must be willing and able to enter your payroll information, and your workers' wages online.
For Service Y, it is intended that you be willing and able to view and print Adobe Acrobat PDF/FDF Forms Files to your printer. The Adobe Acrobat format is widely-used. Your computer may already have the software needed to view and print Adobe Acrobat files. If not, you can download the program free from Adobe here:
Generally, laser printers and good-quality inkjet printers produce acceptable prints. Dot-matrix printers are not adequate for the required forms.

 Successful viewing and printing will yield a form filled with information for Good Q. Citizen.
NOTE: Latest Netscape Navigator browser may be incompatible with this Forms feature of Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you see gibberish instead of a normal form for Good Q. Citizen, you may want to try MS Internet Explorer browser. We have also had one known failure with AOL browser.
If for any reason you are unable to print Adobe Acrobat PDF/FDF forms documents, you may still select the inexpensive Service Y if you wish. In addition to the signature-ready PDF/FDF forms, we supplementally make available to you a Line-by-Line fill-in for each form, from which you can easily copy to the paper forms which the government mails to you.
